Choose your ticket type
If you are visiting Rovaniemi briefly, we recommend buying single tickets or 24-hour tickets. In case you plan to stay longer or you live in Rovaniemi and use the buses on a regular basis, travelling is always cheaper with a value ticket or a season ticket.
You can purchase single tickets on the bus in cash or with the most common debit/credit cards. The ticket allows you to transfer from one vehicle to another within 60 minutes.
You can purchase 24-hour tickets at Osviitta Service Point (City Hall, Hallituskatu 7) or Matkahuolto (Lapinkävijäntie 2). The ticket is valid for 24 hours from the moment of activation on the bus.
Value ticket requires a Waltti travel card, which can be bought at Osviitta, Matkahuolto or online. You can load the card with a certain amount of money, for example 20 euros. The sum will be spent as the card is used. The ticket allows you to transfer from one vehicle to another within 60 minutes.
Season ticket requires a Waltti travel card, which can be bought at the service points or online (waltti.fi). The ticket allows you to travel as much as you want for 30 days.
If you live in zone B or C (See Travel zones) and need to travel to the centre of the city regularly, the cheapest option is to buy a ticket that lets you travel 44 times within two months. Ask for further information at the Osviitta service point or Matkahuolto.
The price of a bus trip depends on the number of zones in which you travel during a trip. There are three zones in Rovaniemi: A, B, C. The centre of the city, University of Lapland and Santa Claus Village (Arctic Circle) belong to zone A.
